6th day Itinerary
Experience the Incredible Canyon Country Vacation Tour: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 East Rim: The East Rim Trail is an incredible 10 mile hike. This hike has just about everything putting the trail on many lists as one of the "best trails in Utah." With all the competition in the state, that is saying a great deal! The 10 mile hike starts at the east entrance of Zion Nat'l Park and travels along slick rock to the top of a high mesa. There are some fun views from this section of the trail, looking back at Checkerboard Mesa, but mostly this part climbs through forested lands. Once up on top of the mesa things get interesting. Part of the trail is along Echo Canyon. Before the steep decent into Zion Canyon the East Rim Trail combines with the Observation Point Trail and Echo Canyon. If the entrance is dry you can hike into Lower Echo Canyon (slot canyon) for a while before deep pools of water stop you. Enjoy the spectacular scenery during the downhill hike. The trail finally ends at the Weeping Rock parking lot in Zion Canyon. The trail is hiked this direction to avoid the steep climb up the Observation Point Trail. To avoid looping, two vehicles must be used, obtain a drop off service or simply hitch which is common in the park. Begin this hike early in the morning since the start of the hike is hot and sandy. Bring plenty of water! Other trails rivaling the East Rim include the West Rim, Angels Landing and the Zion Narrows. Day SixRelaxing choices Coral Pink Sand Dunes Play time in the sand. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes is located on the east side of Zion Nat'l Park. Although this park is a favorite spot for ATV use, there are large areas only for those on foot. Golf at the Thunderbird Golf Course
