The Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park offers a Junior Ranger program much like those at the national parks of the area. Inquire at the entrance gate when entering the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. The program is for kids ages 6 -12, but there are alternate worksheets for younger kids.
Playing at the Sand Dunes - Some people go to movies, some people go hunting, some people play tennis, but others just like to play in the sand. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes is one place where a list of activities does not need to be made for children. The entire Coral Pink Sand Dunes is a huge sand box ready for play. Bring shovels, buckets, forms and create to your hearts content. Build sand castles, roll down the hills or take the nature hike.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes at Night - Starry nights are incredible at the sand dunes. There are no city lights out on the sands to detract from the shimmering stars above. Several times a year there is a telescope set up and someone there to describe the stars above.
Family Fun - A family can have a lot of fun playing on the rolling dunes at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Stay in the campgrounds where there are nice showers to spry off the sand or head to Mount Carmel Junction, 11 miles away and stay in the East Zion Riverside RV Park. Spend the day in the sands and relax by the pool at the Thunderbird while kids swim in the pool. This is an economical family trip either way.
Playing with little kids in the Sand - Let your kids take off their shoes and wiggle their toes in the sand, then their fingers. Ask them how their fingers feel as they glide down to the cool layer of sand. How does the sand feel when damp and dry? Is it gritty, grainy, coarse, fine, hot or cold? Encourage them to pat, sift, pour, measure and make castles. Figure it out. How does the moisture in a sand dune relate to the plants growing there? Find out how plants survive at the dunes.

This is my new favorite quote:
"I don't know who Mary Cisneros is, but I mean zionnational-park.com
It's a better site than the NPS's anyway."
