Red Canyon - Highway 12 in Dixie National ForestRed Canyon 4WD & ATV Trails

Casto Canyon Trail to Losee Canyon Loop
This loop is open to off-road vehicles and is quite popular due to the great views of red rocks and forested lands. The elevation gain is 950'. When entering Red Canyon, turn east on Forest Service Road 118, driving via a bridge, over the Sevier River. It's about 4 miles to where the trail begins. About 4 miles into the trail is a junction. From the junction, take the south path to Losee Canyon. Overnight stays are allowed along this forest service route and staying in Losee Canyon is ideal. In Losee Canyon enjoy the fifteen small arches and incredible views.

Barney Cove Trail
This 1.9 mile moderate trail is open to ATV's. This trail is used primarily as a connector trail between the Casto Canyon and Fremont ATV trails.

Red Canyon is a section of Utah's Dixie National Forest located along Scenic Byway 12, just 13 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park. Passing through this hoodoo laden section of the forest is required to get to Bryce Canyon from the west.

Red Canyon's Visitor Center: The seasonally opened visitor center is located right on Scenic Byway 12.  They can be reached at: 435-676-2676

Entry fee: As part of Dixie National Forest, rather than a national park or monument, there are no entry fees to drive through or hike in Red Canyon.

Camping: There are 37 campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, tent pads, water, toilets, showers, dump station and garbage disposal. Dogs are welcome if on a leash.
