Bicycle Trails

A bicycle trail runs 5 miles along Scenic Byway 12 in Dixie National Forest's Red Canyon. If you are a bike rider then this is something you do not want to miss. Bike through the towering pines and red rocks of this beautiful Utah recreation area. There are no entry fees for this area, so come and enjoy. The paved bike trail runs from the Thunder Mountain Trailhead to Coyote Hollow Road. The elevation along the trail is approximately 7200' to 8000'.

Red Canyon:
Single Track Bike Trail
 Red Canyon's bicycle trail is a wonderful paved path that winds through hoodoo's and forest land. Besides the paved bike trail in Red Canyon, there are 34 miles of single track bike trails in this Utah Recreation area.

Losee Canyon Trail - This 2.9 mile moderate trail begins at the bottom of Losee Canyon. This trail connects with the Cassidy trail.

Cassidy Trail - This 8.9 mile strenuous trail is named for the infamous Butch Cassidy, who used sections of the trail.

Thunder Mountain Trail - This is a 7.8 mile moderate to strenuous trail. The red rocks on the lower section of the trail are outstanding.

Casto Canyon Trail - This 5.5 mile trail offers spectacular scenery.

Red Canyon is a section of Utah's Dixie National Forest located along Scenic Byway 12, just 13 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park. Passing through this hoodoo laden section of the forest is required to get to Bryce Canyon from the west.

Red Canyon's Visitor Center: The seasonally opened visitor center is located right on Scenic Byway 12.  They can be reached at: 435-676-2676

Entry fee: As part of Dixie National Forest, rather than a national park or monument, there are no entry fees to drive through or hike in Red Canyon.

Camping: There are 37 campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, tent pads, water, toilets, showers, dump station and garbage disposal. Dogs are welcome if on a leash.
