Research is an ongoing project in the region with the studies including the rich paleontological history, a history of the Anasai Indians and dinosaurs remain to be uncovered here. When you view the beauty here its geological importance should be self evident.

The Paria River flows through the area carving the narrow canyons and helping to make the unique rock formations. The large number of endemic species makes the area also a biological importance. The Monument covers five different life zones and is for the most part undisturbed by humans.
