Ranger Activities:
Zion Park offers a free interpretive program with hikes and talks daily. The current schedule is posted at the Zion Visitors Center and the Zion Museum.
Zion Naturalist:
The Zion Naturalist is a wealth of information on Zion history, Zion geology, Zion flora, fauna and folklore. Learn how Zion Park was once a great sand dune and how the giant monoliths standing today will return to sand from where they came.
Activities:
During your vacation take the time to tour the many Scenic Byways throughout Southern Utah or simply enjoy the incredible fifteen mile drive through Zion National Park. This highway is open year round, twenty-four hours a day. In the Zion area adventure is truly unlimited. Backpack, bike, climb, fish, hike, horseback ride, enjoy photography, camp, become a jr. ranger, swim, golf, take a guided tour into Utah's slot canyons or just relax amid the beauty of Southern Utah or Northern Arizona.
The Grand Circle of National Parks and Monuments:
Zion Park is only one of the Southwest's treasures, although it is considered the to be the Gem among the jewels. The National Parks and National Monuments of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona make up the "Grand Circle," a group of Natural Wonders so near each other that nothing else on earth can compare. Scenic Byways connect this elite group of Natural Wonders. Travel Scenic Byways 9 & 89 to visit Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Grand Canyon National Park and the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
Driving Instructions:
If you are starting from US. Highway 89, (Scenic Byway 89) take Scenic Byway9 to the east entrance of Zion Park. If you are starting from the city of Saint George, then turn off the 115 Freeway to US. Highway 9, this road will take you to the South entrance of Zion Park and continues through the park to Mount Carmel Junction. The scenic byway begins at Zion Park and ends at Mount Carmel Junction.
