Grand Canyon National Park:
The Grand Canyon, extending 300 miles, 1,218,375 acres, 1,904 square miles has earned its rightful place as one of the seven-wonders of the world. Local and International visitors coming to the park each year total about four million to the Grand Canyon National Park.
North Rim of the Grand Canyon:
The beautiful and more primitive North Rim of the Grand Canyon is located two hours south of the southwestern Utah town of Kanab or 95 miles from Mt. Carmel Jct. If you plan to visit the National Parks and Monuments of Southern Utah then the North Rim is the place you want to go. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is located only 95 miles from Mt. Carmel Jct. on the East side of Zion Park.
Directions to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon:
From Zion Park, travel Scenic Byway 9 to Mt. Carmel Jct., then turn south on Scenic Byway 89 to Kanab. Take Hwy 89A to Jacob lake, Arizona (36 miles), then take Hwy 67 to the Grand Canyon Park Entrance. The North Rim is open from late spring into fall, however I have gone to the North Rim in the dead of winter and the trails were open but the lodge and visitors center was closed. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon offers everything the visitor could ask for, mule rides, river tours, bus tours and horseback rides. Hiking in the Grand Canyon is different from the other parks since the trails head down hill first and of course that means the return is an up hill climb. Arizona Map
South Rim of the Grand Canyon:
The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is only ten miles if one could fly, but by car it is 215 miles.
